Therma-Tru Custom & Geometric Windows in Palm Beach: What to Know First

Custom and geometric Therma-Tru window work in Palm Beach typically runs $850 to $4,200 per opening depending on shape complexity, glass package, and whether the frame needs rebuilding or just reglazing. Most jobs wrap up in three to ten business days. We’re an independent Therma-Tru service provider, not a manufacturer warranty station, so we make parts and repair decisions based on what actually holds up in this salt-air climate, not what the brochure says.

This page is for Palm Beach homeowners who already own Therma-Tru windows, or who are planning a custom or geometric window project and want straight answers on failures, costs, and turnaround. If you’ve got a leaking arch window, a fogged trapezoid, or a builder who quoted you a number that felt made up, call Ed Winslow and the team at (561) 782-7525. We’ll tell you what’s actually wrong and what it actually costs.

How Therma-Tru Products Fail - and How We Fix Them

  • Therma-Tru Classic-Craft radius units delaminating at the arch base. The Classic-Craft line uses a fiberglass-reinforced skin over a wood-look composite core. On radius tops and eyebrow windows, the skin seam at the tightest part of the curve is where Palm Beach humidity works its way in. We see the skin bubble and peel within six to eight years on south-facing elevations in places like El Cid and the North End. The real fix is seam-injection epoxy and a full strip-and-reseal, not silicone caulk over the bubble. Caulk fails again inside two seasons.
  • Smooth-Star geometric windows fogging between panes. Smooth-Star units, especially fixed triangles and pentagons, start losing their argon fill around year nine or ten in coastal air. The symptom is condensation you can’t wipe off. The cause is usually a failed perimeter seal at the bottom apex of the shape, where water pools against the glazing bead. We replace the insulated glass unit (IGU) and upgrade the sealant to a marine-grade polyurethane that handles constant salt exposure better than the factory butyl tape.
  • Awning and casement geometric windows sagging on the hinge side. Therma-Tru’s hinged custom shapes, particularly oversized half-round awnings, put more load on the pivot hardware than the standard rectangular units the hardware was designed for. We see stripped hinge screws and stripped operator gears in units wider than 36 inches. The information you won’t find on Therma-Tru’s site is that the factory hinge pack for geometric shapes is identical to the rectangle pack, which is exactly why they fail faster. We retrofit heavier stainless hinges and reposition the pivot point closer to the center of glass mass.
  • Therma-Tru sliding geometric windows binding in the track after storm season. Palm Beach’s wind-driven rain pushes fine sand and salt grit into the sill tracks of horizontal geometric sliders. Therma-Tru’s track profile is shallower than most competitors, so debris packs into the roller channels and the sash stops closing flush. Homeowners think the frame warped. It didn’t. The fix is a full track purge, roller replacement, and a weep-hole reaming we do on every Therma-Tru slider we touch, because factory weep holes are too small for this climate.
  • Shaped transom windows leaking at the sill-to-frame joint. This is a Therma-Tru installation weakness, not a manufacturing defect. Geometric transoms, especially trapezoids over entry doors, often sit in openings that were flashed by a builder who treated them like rectangular windows. The odd angles leave gaps at the sill corners. In El Cid and the historic districts along South Olive, where original masonry openings are never square, that corner gap is where water gets behind the frame and rots the rough opening. We pull the unit, flash it properly with angle-cut pan flashing, and reinstall.

Our Therma-Tru Custom & Geometric Windows Process

  1. 1
Call and talk to a person. You call (561) 782-7525. Ed or a team member answers. We ask about the shape, the symptom, and the age of the unit, then schedule a visit. No call center, no ticket number.
  2. 2
On-site diagnosis. We measure the unit, check seal integrity, inspect the frame and rough opening, and identify whether the failure is in the glass, the hardware, the frame, or the installation. You get a written explanation, not a shrug.
  3. 3
Parts decision: OEM vs quality aftermarket. Some Therma-Tru parts are worth the OEM price; some generic replacements outperform the factory part in Palm Beach conditions. We tell you which is which and why. If your unit is still under warranty, we’ll help you navigate a claim, but we won’t install a part we know will fail in three years just to satisfy a warranty checklist.
  4. 4
The repair or replacement. We disconnect, remove, rebuild, reglaze, or replace the unit. Our techs are background-checked and uniformed. You’ll know who’s at your door before we knock.
  5. 5
Test and verify. We run water testing on every geometric unit we touch, check the operation of every moving part, and inspect the flashing from the outside.
  6. 6
We stand behind it. Every Therma-Tru job carries our Done Right Promise. If it’s not done right, Ed Winslow’s name is on it, and we make it right. That’s a lasting standard. We mean it.

What Therma-Tru Custom & Geometric Windows Costs in Palm Beach

Honest numbers, based on what we actually charge in Palm Beach and the surrounding barrier island communities:

  • Glass-only replacement on a fixed geometric unit (triangle, pentagon, trapezoid): $850 to $1,600 per unit, depending on glass area and whether you need Low-E or tinted glass for the west-facing elevations.
  • Complete geometric window replacement (frame and glass, standard size up to 20 square feet): $1,800 to $3,400 installed.
  • Oversized or highly custom shapes (radius tops, eyebrow arches, full-circle units): $2,800 to $4,200 per opening.
  • Hardware and hinge retrofit on sagging geometric awnings or casements: $340 to $680 per sash.

What moves the price: glass type, frame material, whether the rough opening needs rebuilding, and whether the unit is accessible from the ground or requires lift or scaffold work. We give written, line-item quotes before we start, and the price doesn’t change once work begins unless you change the scope. Call (561) 782-7525 for a free estimate. There’s no trip charge inside Palm Beach County.

Why Palm Beach Homeowners Call Winslow Windows & Doors for Therma-Tru Work

Ed Winslow grew up in El Cid, just west of the Intracoastal, watching salt air and hurricane seasons chew through older homes. He learned the trades at Palm Beach State College and spent years in the field before putting his own name on a truck. That’s the standard every job gets held to. We’ve been doing this since 2011, locally owned and owner-operated, with a published address and license number, not a PO box and a franchise manual.

We’re an authorized installer for eight brands, including Therma-Tru, PGT, CGI, CWS, and ES Windows, so when a Therma-Tru unit isn’t worth saving, we can show you alternatives that actually hold up on the coast. A live person answers our phones 24/7, our techs are background-checked and uniformed, and we honor permanent standing offers: $40 off any repair over $200, free second opinions on written estimates, and a 10% discount for seniors and veterans. Ed’s name is on the door, and on every job we do. The one down the road.

What Neighbors Say About Winslow Windows & Doors

★★★★★

"Three big companies quoted us and every one sent a salesman with a leased truck. Ed turned up in a truck with his own name on the door, quoted less, and his crew were the same faces on day one and day nine."

YYolanda Betancourt
★★★★★

"A tile roof repair and new windows from the same company meant one crew, one permit runner, and nobody blaming the other trade. Ed checked the roof work himself before the tarp came off."

HHenrietta Pemberton
★★★★★

"Ed measured every opening himself and walked me through the product approval paperwork before I signed anything. When the inspector came he found the notice of acceptance taped inside a window like it should be and passed us first visit."

RRosalind Beaumont
★★★★★

"Someone tried the back slider while we were away. The glass crazed and held, the alarm never had to earn its keep, and the police report reads better than it might have. Ed came out the next morning to check the frame himself."

CCornelius Adeyemi
★★★★

"Excellent work and a fair price for what it is, though impact glass is never cheap and one bedroom window arrived with a scratched pane. Ed flagged it before I saw it and the replacement went in without me chasing anyone."

BBartholomew Crenshaw
★★★★★

"He replaced the front door and the garage door in the same week, both rated for impact, and lined the frames up so straight my level had nothing to say. My wife stopped hearing the highway from the front room."

MMaximilian Vasquez
★★★★

"The installation was clean and the windows are beautiful. The factory took about six weeks to deliver the units, which Ed told me upfront, but living behind plywood-framed openings in the meantime still tested my patience."
