How Winslow Windows & Doors Came to Palm Beach

When we opened this Palm Beach location, we weren’t starting from scratch. Winslow Windows & Doors already had a reputation built over years of doing window and door work the right way. What we were doing was bringing that standard to a market that needed it, because homeowners here face conditions you don’t see in most of Florida.

Salt air. Relentless sun. Hurricane season that isn’t a season so much as a fact of life. We kept meeting Palm Beach homeowners who’d had windows installed by companies that clearly didn’t understand coastal construction. Frames warping within a few years. Impact glass that failed its first real storm test. Seals giving out because someone used materials meant for inland homes. It bothered us. It should bother anyone in this trade.

Ed Winslow led the effort to open this branch himself, not because Palm Beach was a convenient market on a spreadsheet, but because the work here matters. A window that fails in Ohio is an inconvenience. A window that fails in Palm Beach during a hurricane is a threat to the people inside. That’s the standard we think about on every job.

We didn’t move here to sell more windows. We came because we believed homeowners in this area deserved better than what they were getting, and because we knew our team had the training, the products, and the stubbornness to deliver it.

Ed Winslow’s Personal Connection to the Windows & Doors Trade

Ed Winslow has spent over a decade in this trade, and the way he tells it, the work never stops being interesting. Every home presents a different problem. Every opening has its own measurements, its own quirks, its own history of bad repairs or deferred maintenance. You don’t master this work in a year. You don’t master it in five. You keep learning because the houses keep teaching.

The part that stuck with him early on was the moment a properly fitted window changes a room. Not the visual change, though that’s real. It’s the way sound drops away when a good impact window goes in. The way the air conditioner stops running quite so hard in August. The way a door closes with that solid, satisfying thunk that tells you everything is sealed the way it should be. Those things don’t show up in a photo, but homeowners feel them every day.

There’s also the side of the work most people never see. Ed talks about running his hand along a rough opening and feeling where a previous installer took shortcuts. About the smell of old caulk that was applied over rot instead of after fixing it. About the look on a homeowner’s face when they realize the last company left them with a problem that’s been slowly getting worse for years. Those moments stay with you. They shape how you work.

If he wasn’t doing this, Ed would probably still be working with his hands on something. The trade chose him as much as he chose it. But windows and doors specifically? That came from a simple realization: this is work where doing it right is genuinely difficult, and genuinely matters. That’s the kind of work worth building a career around.

Meet Ed Winslow - The Person Behind Every Job

Ed Winslow is the Owner & Founder of this Palm Beach branch, but the title undersells it. He’s the person who set the standard for how we operate here: show up when you say you will, quote honestly, install carefully, and stand behind the result. He has spent more than a decade in the windows and doors trade, working through enough Florida summers and storm seasons to understand what coastal homes actually demand.

Ed isn’t a franchise manager passing through. He leads this branch because the work matters to him personally. On weekends, you might find him restoring something, fixing something, or simply walking a job site that’s already finished just to see how it’s holding up. He believes that the person whose name is on the company should care about the work long after the check clears. That’s not a slogan. It’s how he operates, and it’s what he expects from everyone who works alongside him.

If you hire Winslow Windows & Doors in Palm Beach, Ed’s name is on the line. He takes that seriously.

Our Promise to Palm Beach Homeowners

Three things guide every job we take on in Palm Beach. They’re simple enough that we can state them without fine print.

Honest pricing. Every quote is written, line-itemed, and fixed. If something changes during the job, we tell you before it changes on the invoice. No surprises. No “we discovered additional work” calls that double the cost.

Quality parts. We install products from manufacturers like PGT, CWS, and ViewLux because coastal Florida demands impact-rated materials that hold up to salt and sun. We don’t put inland-grade components in coastal homes. It costs more, and we don’t apologize for that.

Standing behind every job. If something isn’t right after we leave, we come back and make it right. That’s not a marketing promise. It’s the basic contract of doing good work, and we treat it that way.

Our Credentials

  • State-licensed through Florida’s contractor licensing system. Every pro working under our name is required to hold the license and insurance their state requires.
  • Insured & bonded for the protection of every homeowner we work with. We carry the coverage that serious contractors carry, and we’re glad to provide documentation when you ask.
  • Local experience built over years of working in Palm Beach County’s specific climate and code environment. That’s not a credential you earn overnight.
  • A strong local reputation earned one job at a time. We’re not a national chain drop-in. We’re your neighbors, and we work like it.

Why do these things matter when you’re hiring someone to work on your home? Because the difference between a good window installation and a bad one might not show up for three years. When it does, you want to know the company behind it is licensed, insured, and still standing right here in Palm Beach. That’s what credentials actually mean to a homeowner.

Rooted in Palm Beach

We work throughout Palm Beach County, from West Palm Beach down through Palm Beach Shores, Lantana, Boynton Beach, and everywhere in between. We know these neighborhoods, we know how different blocks handle drainage and sun exposure, and we know the homes here because we’ve been inside hundreds of them. When you call us about a window on an older Palm Beach home, we probably already know what we’re going to find before we arrive. That local knowledge isn’t something you can buy. You have to earn it.
